Hey, Um, That Mic Is Still On

Posted to YouTube: Republican commentators Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy talking into hot mics after an interview with MSNBC's Chuck Todd. They're a little off-message on the Palin VP pick...

Noonan:

I think they went for this -- excuse me -- political bulls**t about narratives...every time Republicans do that, because that's not where they live, and it's not what they're good at, they blow it.

Murphy:

You know what's really the worst thing about it? The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical.

Awk!

UPDATE: In her weekly WSJ column, Noonan apologizes and explains what she was getting at.

correction. . . Chuck Todd adds the line, "This is cynical" (Murphy doesn't). Is it sad that I watch enough MSNBC to recognize his voice? =)

Keep up the good work, NPR. Congrats to Noonan and Murphy. We have to take a serious look at what's going on in our country. Let's not be fooled by the so-called Republican's convention excitement. Who are they fooling? They do not represent my America. One of the best comments I heard yesterday was Conan O'Brien's observation that there were only 36 African American faces at the Republican convention. What does this tell us about the Republicans? It's a party with a narrow voter base. Everybody knows this. The media, the Republicans, anybody that is willing to tell it like it is. The Emperor's and his party ain't wearin no clothes.

Actually Murphy and Todd both say "this is cynical." Todd is finishing Murphy's sentence.

If that's all you got, you are desperate. What I heard was Noonan being very critical of the decision of choosing Palin as is fair enough. Where was the disparaging of Palin? Good Republican minds can disagee with the process as Noonan did, but please give me an example of Noonan attacking Palin. You got nut'n. Sorry. Wayne Ps, Noonan would be my pick.

The point was that Noonan and Murphey were agreeing with each other that Palin was NOT QUALIFIED for the second highest office in the land and that that this decision was political pandering at its worst, ergo, "the cynicism" of the pick by McCaine. But what is also troubling is that Noonan and Murphy had both, publicly, expressed the opposite about Palin previously. In one fell stroke, these "off mic" admissions sure expose the cynicism and carefully orchestrated DECEIT of the Right Wing Media pundits and their talking heads on the American People.

Go "Media"! Ask questions. Demand answers. That's your job. If Palin is fit she can answer. So far I see nothing but repub handler narrative. I disagree with Noonan. Repubs have been successful at cowing the press about questioning their narratives. The press should not let it happen this time. I want to know every word she spoke to the Alaska secesh party. I want her questioned on why she was for earmarks and the bridge to nowhere before she was against them. I want to know what "reformer" means. How would she balance the FEDERAL budget, not an Alaska budget swimming in oil revenues where no hard choices need to be made?
What specific knowledge and education does she have about foreign policy and national security? She should get no credit if she knows that there is no border between Iraq and Afghnistan. On social issues, is an abortion to save the life of a mother appropriate? Answer the question!

One more question Governor: Which individuals in the convention hall of your party do you believe it is necessary to confront in order to effect change in Washington? I'll be watching for the answers to these questions in her speech. I'll be waiting for the answers to these questions from her sycophantic supporters. I won't hold my breath.

It is incredible. A small town two term mayor..just a few yrs ago..can lead one of the greatest nation on earth. I hope voters wiseup.
We can do better than this
