Everyone's favorite podcast is back with a brand new episode. This week, NPR's Ron Elving holds the show together as Ken Rudin suspends his role in the podcast to devote his attention to our nation's economic woes. Other topics include: McCain's return to Washington, Obama and what could be his loneliest debate, and a look at Senate seats up for grabs.
Next, McCain will ask we postpone the election and Bush can stay as president by default
Just before McCain announced Palin, I actually had a lot of respect for the man even though I was voting Obama...I still though he was a good speaker, someone with the most integrity on the Rep side and so if Obama lost, I wouldn't be too upset.
But then he showed his rump and chose Palin who clearly is a deer in the headlights in terms of economy, military, foreign policy - even how things are down here in the lower 48.
Its been all downhill from there and it seems his (or Rove's?) plan to 'capture the base" (ie - Christian fundamentalists) has obviously blown up in their faces. Jees, I live in a rural / fundamentalist area and even local longtime republicans are saying they're now voting Obama...unreal.
To the point - McCain NEVER STOPPED his campaign and he ALREADY COMMITTED to the debate months ago...why is everyone questioning if he'll now commit? What's happening is that he's backing out of that committment apparently, so the real question is - will he follow through on his committment.
And if not - why wouldn't he back out of or cancel any of his campaign committments he's spoken of so far?
He' cancelled the RNC day 1 / most of day 2 because of Ike...OK - thats understandable.
He's cancelling his campaign due to the economic collapse that in his 26 (?) years in the Senate he says has more to do with Obama than himself (what the...?) AND YET IN THE MEETING HE SAID NOTHING - "I'll defer to my Republican Senoirity..." he said. What?
He cancelled his appearance on Letterman to go to DC yet was then interviewed in the same time slot with Katie Couric - while Letterman was broadcasting (and thus, humiliating him). Meanwhile - Palin cannot name ONE THING McCain has done as a "Maverick" to Katie Couric though she promised to "Find out those things...and I'll bring them to you." (Right!)
Now he wants to cancel a debate that has been planned for nearly 1.5 years, costing several million dollars, that he already committed to?
Cancel and distraction...thats all I seem to be getting from McCain & Palin. Answer some questions why don't you?
Way to preach it Kevin!!! Hopefully, "the truth will set them free"!
