Levi to Appear at RNC

The AP is reporting that Levi Johnston, the boyfriend of Sarah Palin's pregnant daughter Bristol, will join the Palin family when his future mother-in-law receives the Vice-Presidential nomination at the Republican Convention.

Levi's mother Sherry Johnston told the AP that the two teenagers had planned to marry before Bristol got pregnant, and said the pregnancy was "a bonus." Mrs. Johnston also added this understatement of the year:

Sherry Johnston said she was worried about her son dealing with all the attention. She said it was difficult enough for teenagers to deal with any pregnancy, having the entire nation watching made it worse.

The media klieg lights in St. Paul may not help that situation...

My jaw just dropped through the floor.

So much for Governor Palin and Senator McCain wanting people to respect the kids' privacy!!

Imagine the scathing commentaries by republicans if it were a daughter of a democratic candidate. Now they are all giving it the positive spin - hypocrisy is alive and well.

The liberal media is falling to a new low with this storyline. Since when have children become fair game? Since you all became terrified that the annointed one would loose -- the one who hangs with terrorists, and did coke, but isn't questioned, and wasn't investigated by the press at any point. Sarah must be a great candidate because you all are terrified of her!

Republicans are hypocrites. When teenage pregnancy happens to right wingers, they're human. When it happens to left wingers or blacks, it's because they're immoral.

Another thought on Palin that is more important than these family issues: I hope to see every word she ever said to the Alaska Independence Party. I hope the news organizations or by default the blogs will provide that. Is she "secesh" as was asked during the civil war?

How could any mother accept the nomination knowing the focus that it would put on her pregnant teenage daughter? How can Palin justify sacrificing her daughter's privacy for her own ambitions? Now the mother of the teen father has allowed him to be thrown into the media spotlight too. What next - the birth televised?

I would ask all of you to consider the ALTERNATIVE here. What 17-year old (I was one once and was lucky enough to live through that to have a few ((and lived through that too) would want the possibility of living with a hint of self-induced guilt that she may have TUBED her mom's shot at not just the Vice-presidency - but perhaps - THE PRESIDENCY of the United States? It's a POV worth pondering.
