McCain has built a shield around himself to try and hide his ties to George Bush and the failed policies of 8 years. The name of that shield is Sarah Palin. The Obama campaign needs to realize this strategy and develope a plan to penetrate this shield if they expect to win in November. If not, America will probably experience 8 more years of Bush/Cheney deception if in fact America survives as we knew it. Please, Democrats, do not get swiftboated again!Karl Rove is NOT infallible!!

I think it's time to end this childish, moronic discussion of a comment not meant for Palin and get on with the real discussion of REAL ISSUES facing us today.:the economy, job loss and the destruction of the middle class. I for one have recently lost my professional job, have lost much of my retirement savings and am headed toward retirement with far less than planned as a result of the last 8 years of total destruction of my and my families' hopes and dreams. I have a master's degree and over 20 years of top corporate experience and now I have nothing left.Start discussing the real issues, PLEASE!!!

I believe that John McCain is an honorable man ... but using this "pig" comment out of context is totally dishonorable. It's intentionally trying to deceive the American people. I for one have had enough of this kind of politics!!

When everything is said and done, after the uproar of gimmickery fades, I hope we can get back on track of the real issues: The Economy, and how to solve previous 8-year US policies which have allowed the entire world to be brought to the edge of financial armageddon; The Environment, and how to provide energy for our country in the coming decades and beyond; Faith in our Government, and their ability to cross not only national party lines, but international cultural lines.
Palin will be a non-entity on these fronts, as she does not seem to have any insight or solutions to these issues. Biden has the foreign-policy understanding and history that Obama may lack, but McCain can only realistically admit that Palin brings nothing more to the ticket than a pretty face and the gender card. She might make an okay mayor, and if the good folks of Alaska want her as their governor,so be it, but I would prefer a team in the white house that will lead our country back to the prominent place it once held in the world through diplomacy and grand thinking, not just empty rhetoric and lipstick.

"Putting lipstick on the pig" is a very common phrase (at least in some parts of the U.S.) used to describe the process of trying to make something look like something much more appealing...and I'm so glad that the video of John McCain using this same phrase about Hilary Clinton's healthcare plan is now on YouTube.

Interesting, tho, that when Hilary was the target, there was no 'gender card' played, no 'boohoo, he hurt my precious little feelings', etc. etc. ad nauseum. The republican response is predictably, as different as night from day. This leaves 2 possibilities-the outrage is really fake, in which case it's business as usual for the republicans...making mountains out of molehills-or-it's real outrage, in which case...One would have to ask if someone as easily offended as Palin seems to be is really VP material...hhhmmm...

I hope the Obama campaign was expecting, this kind of silly childish stuff coming from the McCain camp. I am confident democrats won't let the republicans steal another election. The bad guys are in power and they will use every means to stay in power. They truly have no scruples. After all, McCain's top campaign staffers are all DC lobbyist!!! What does that tell you!! If John McCain is elected, the rich will get richer and when the middle class goes under, we will all fall down!! Think McCain and Palin will be making up the rules as they go along, like George and Dick! I am writing a check to Obama for America right now, please fell free to join me. This election is way to important to sit on the sidelines. It's 3rd and goal, with only seconds left America, let's score the winning touchdown and take our country back. To quote old Abe Lincoln, "that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

If you think this is exasperating, just wait until the debates. Remember when George W. Bush looked like a stuttering, stammering 5th grader trying to debate a college professor in 2000, and yet people still claimed he 'won' the debates?

That's what we call 'spin', and if you think the spin machine is in high gear now, just wait until we see a frail, aging, confused and sputtering McCain try to remember the sloganeering he's been fed by his handlers, while a young, strong, highly intelligent and confident Obama runs oratorical circles around him... and still somehow 'loses' the debates.

I wish the general public would smartin up. For months the McCain campaign has told the world they don't know Obama. Even after his story has been told in front of an audience larger than the one of the superbowl, people still say they don't know him. Then McCain pulls Palin up on the internet and announces her as his running mate. After a speech, the majority of republicans say they can relate to her. Please. McCain doesn't even know her, so how could the public? John McCain can not shake the fact that he voted with George Bush 90% of the time.It makes you wonder whether these people really believe that the country has been headed in the right direction during the presidency of George Bush.

This is the dumbest waste of air time this election. Of course Obama was not referring to Palin. This is my new stupidest media waste of air space the runner up is the approved by Obama add claiming "McCain would overturn R-V-Wade if Elected" as if the executive branch had that authority. Both camps think the American public is stupid and from the comments and Responses I am reading here they have good reason but they are both wrong. Let's talk solutions and leave the name calling for the Senate races.
