The Spin Begins

While Senator Obama detailed his plans, Senator McCain told stories which may not be verifiable.

While Senator Obama used facts to support his arguments, Senator McCain trumped up lies to attack Senator Obama.

Senator Obama presented a comprehensive plan with substance to get our country back. Senator McCain told wild tales and lies.

Our country needs plans like what presented by Senator Obama; our country does not need any more lies or tales.

So do they support the bail out or not? I came away fairly certain neither will vote for it as written and they hope something they would vote for is written this weekend, but the kinda quiet "sure" from McCain seems like he might have said he might vote for it.

The one person who looked bad in this debate was the moderator. Why was Lehrer so preoccupied with the candidates addressing each other? The goal of the debate is to inform us, the voters, not each other.

One was trying too hard to give specific information with nuance.

One was painting broad stroke with more stories that pulls on our heart strings, but loaded with omission of full information or worse, the wrong information.

If the majority of Americans vote for McCain, then we will deserve what America will inherit in 20 years. Ignorance is bliss, for the generation that will not be here in 20 years.

Issues are complex, but Americans want one-liners; they would vote on ONE single issue. Something is really wrong with our education system which formed an uninformed, lazy population. Something is really wrong when powerful companies have pressure on what the media says, and something is really wrong when Americans vote out of hearts without knowledge.

Neither candidates are perfect, but true wisdom and compassion comes from BOTH heart AND mind. We seem to have lost the later, and we do not mind having a leader who lack one or the other.

It was appalling to hear McCain go on about his hero Ronald Reagan and make repeated references to General whoever the hell. Listening to McCain, you'd think those two guys walk on water. And how dare he announce to the American public that Senator Kennedy was re-hospitalized, what was that about? McCain was so predictable with the one-upmanship and sappy stories - if we're in for four more years of that I'm killing my television once and for all. In contrast,I thought Obama conducted himself like a statesman, acknowledging points his opponent made, sticking to substantive issues, even his body language and eye contact conveyed how more effective a leader and negotiater he is than McCain, who seems only willing to sit down at a bargaining table with people who already agree with or are afraid of him. I'm sorry but I can't understand how anyone with a pulse and a functioning frontal lobe could vote for McCain.
