Hillary Clinton is vowing to press on with her campaign despite a disappointing defeat to Barack Obama in North Carolina's democratic primary. Senator Clinton narrowly won the Indiana primary last night. Click on the audio post from NPR's Chris Arnold.
The Clinton campaign was hoping to build momentum for her come from behind candidacy last night. Instead she lost North Carolina by a wider than expected nearly 15 percentage point margin. She did win Indiana but the margin was less than 2 percent, not a resounding victory. All that is likely to bring fresh calls for Senator Clinton to step aside and end the exhausting marathon race. Again, Barack Obama but Clinton is vowing to press on:
I'm going to work my heart out in West Virginia and Kentucky this month and I intend to win them in November in the general election.
Money promises to be a challenge, though. Obama outspent Clinton in both North Carolina and Indiana. The Clinton Campaign has been running on fumes with the candidate going into her own pocket to stay in the race.
