Presidential Countdown

Just in case you hadn't heard, there's this election coming up next year. And for the next 594 days (plus or minus), we hope to talk with ... and let you talk to ... as many of the candidates for president as we can ... Republicans, Democrats, and others. Today, Republican Mike Huckabee. He's the former governor of Arkansas, (or Arkansas's former governor) and will be on the line to take your questions this afternoon. So, let us know: what questions do you have for Gov. Mike Huckabee?

What I don't understand is the Democratic strategy, if there is one. They keep "beating the dead horse," namely punching and punching on the Bush White House, which is clearly a lame duck, yet do nothing to focus attention on their opposition, the GOP, which is what gave us this entirely corrupt administration.

The Democratic Party, and the various candidates-apparent spend megabucks to talk about all sorts of things that they can't possibly bring to realization, yet won't spend a dime or a minute to attack their principal opposition, which will, ultimately defeat them because they've squandered all their resources and rhetoric on this useless pursuit of G. W. Bush.

I just want the Girls to know that two years ago in Chicago I brought my 11 1/2 year old son to his first concert. It was the Indigo Girls at The Park West. It was his birthday and his favorite bands was in town. It couldn't have been a better pay-off. He loves them (as does the rest of our family - 4 boys ,one dad and mom). We love their politics, their lyrics and harmony. The songs they write make you think not just about your own world but the whole world around you. And as parents that is exactly what we strive for. Having a band play great music that sneds that message to them is fantastic!

We spend billions of dollars each year on athletics from grade school to professional but we have some of the most out of shape children in the world. What would you do about this if you become president.

All I can say is that Govenor Huckabee is the best kept secret in teh Republican party. Finally an honest conservative that is consistent in his views such as pro-life. I hope he can get enough press play to at least be have a realistic chance of being recognized come the primaries next year. He was truly a breath of fresh air for a young social conservative such as myself tired of the Republican rhetoric that is nothing more than... rhetoric.

My lifepartner, David, and I will be celebrating 30 years of life together on Sunday. While we've been hard-working, law-abiding taxpayers throughout our lives together, the U.S. government (unlike those of Canada and many European nations) will not recognize our most cherished relationship, that to each other. Is your mind closed to the fact that legalizing marriage for us would in no way dishonor the institution? As president, would you allow your Baptist background to interfere with supporting equal rights for gay and lesbian Americans?

I was glad, when asked about immigration, Mike responded that he favored a border fence. However, I don't think the free trade route has been a success. I think it's time for some degree of 'protectionism' in the trade area, as well as the immigration area.

I emailed the following question to MH, which he answered on-air: "How would you solve the immigration crisis as President?
Do favor discontinuing the policy of automatic citizenship by birth, a policy which is not followed by any other modern industrialized nation; a policy which is not necessarily supported by the 14th Amendment.
Do you feel the NAFTA and other trade agreement are unconstitutional since these treaties were not passed by the required 2/3/ majority of the Senate."
MH responded on-air by saying he favored a fence, and he favored free trade.
I guess I should have framed my question as a constitutional challenge. Do you believe the constitution supports birth citizenship, and do you believe the constitution supports these 'free' (NOT) trade agreements.
Oh, well.
