The Results Show

We asked, you answered... some 2,289 of you took our ethics and values quiz. And based on the emails we got asking us to post the results, not all of you were able to listen to our second hour on Thursday (when we revealed all). The poll may not be scientific, but it sure made for a revealing discussion, and thanks to crack intern Ashley Grashaw and her quick typing skills we can share the results with you. Here's what your fellow survey takers had to say:

1. I would lie when taking a poll if the answers made me look better....

As the product of a bi-racial union... I find it hard to believe the answer to question 13. Maybe I'm just a pessimist at heart. But I've seen no evidence that *many* people *want* to date outside their race, or that families *accept* it. I'm floored that the numbers are that different... 94 to 6. Wow... Especially since as recently as 1998 (in SC), a third of the state voted to keep laws on the books making interracial marriage illegal.

While listening to the show I found Neal reinforcing republican talking points about the health care costs... shame on you Neal.

Hi! I think during the show a cdaller asked how much people would be willing to pay in order to have univeral healthcare. I would be willing to pay what we are now paying for an illegal war, some 8 billion dollars a month!

The correct term is "illegal alien", not "undocumented immigrant". As a bonus, here's a question just for you: "I would continue to oppose enforcement of our immigration laws and/or I would continue to support a massive amnesty for illegal aliens even knowing that it would almost certainly increase illegal immigration, give more political power inside the U.S. to foreign governments, give an amnesty to corrupt companies that profit from illegal immigration, reward corrupt politicians who've refused to enforce the laws or make sure they're enforced, and increase border deaths among many other negative consequences. After all, I don't want to scapegoat 'undocumented immigrants' or anything".

I answered this survey a few days ago, and I found myself often wishing there were something between yes and no, because a number of things I might do depending on the circumstances. But saying yes or now seemed like an oversimplification. Maybe that was why people skipped some questions. I didn't skip any, but if I had realized that would be an option, I probably would have skipped more questions. For example, if I had someone in the car with me, I'd be more likely to help someone appearing to be in distress than if I were alone. And if I were alone, I still might try to call someone on my cell. But if I were alone with no phone, I would probably think it wasn't safe to stop.

When Neal Conan reinforced the (in my opinion incorrect) Republican talking points, he was correctly fulfilling his function as host.

Also, the "war" in Iraq is (unfortunately) perfectly legal.

Considering that all the cost/benefit studies I have been able to find show substantial reductions in the cost of health care under a single payer plan I am astonished that anyone is still asking how much would we be willing to pay. One Study found that the total savings in Health Costs would be over 100 billion dollars a year...1.1 TRILLION saved in a decade.

And the study estimated an increase in overall care, and NO decline in quality.
