Up Close with the Vice President

"Dick Cheney is the most influential and powerful man ever to hold the office of vice president." That's the introduction to a series of articles in the Washington Post that looks at the office of the Vice President. Specifically, the office of Vice President Dick Cheney, and his relationship to the President, and the rest of the official Washington. From the war on terror, to the economy, to the environment and energy, Cheney has left his mark on US policy. If you have questions about the role of the V.P., or Vice President Cheney, let us know.

Cheney gives us alot more to talk about than Gore or Dan Quayle ever did. I like to imagine Cheney eating deep fried filet mignons in his secret bunker, while making big decisions on national policy, the economy, and the environment. Gore was a wall-flower who went on to become a sore loser. Quayle's only claim to fame was misspelling potato.
Cheney wins the charisma test. Hands down!

I don't understand why the Senate or the House can't make Mr. Vice President come up with more information.

Cheney is the "beard" of the American military/corporate alliance (particularly the oil industry), a phenomemom that particularlyconcerned Gral. Eisenhower 50 years ago, and which he underscored in his farewell speech, So it is not the individuals (Bush, Cheney, etc) we should worry about but the lobbies which have taken over our political world and are using up $550 billion dollars a year of our annual budget in military contracts!

I think the more interesting question is whether Cheney is the most evil politian ever spawned by the American Political System. I have always thought he was the Edgar Bergan to Charlie McCarthy Bush. Now I think he has graduated to the Dr Strangelove level of detachment from reality. I imagine Nero had charisma also.

How could Cheney possibly have been contemplating expanding executive powers on the morning of 9/11, as the buildings were still falling? Why does that not set off alarm bells? This guy is the vice president, and he's not trying to figure out who's behind the attacks, or how to make sure no more are in store for the day. Instead, he is going about planning to take advantage of the carte blanche he is sure to get to expand executive powers. Even the least cynical among us has to admit that this is too much to accept, even for someone as crafty as Cheney. Surely he would have at least let the dust settle before planning to take over the US government. That is, unless he knew the attacks were coming... or helped plan them.

I think most of us here are liberals. I voted Democrat and will continue to persue the left side of politics with vigilence (sp). But I think there is a large problem so far in this forum that has plagued our political system for some time. Maybe even since we entered Iraq.

The politicians we voted into office, also gave President Bush the authority to invade Iraq. I digress into that statement for one reason: Do we really believe ourselves when we say that someone, such as Dick Cheney our VP, could orchastrate something so hideous? Personally, I don't believe he is intelligent enough, especially with a donkey for a President.

Remember, and I say this with respect for all parties, people, and young voters, we are in this together. If you can read through its corniness, we are still in Iraq due to Partisan Politics, which seem like games to everyone in the media, but it is still costing lives.

We can't agree on a single issue; dealing with Iraq. So the result is more money spent and more lives lost. Rather than labeling and ignoring those of different opinion, keep those that are different closer. I read more issues from the Republican side than I do from NPR, BBC, or CNN, just for that reason. In my humble opinion, a leader must exemplify why I love my nation. Secondly, do we all think we can try a bit harder to do that same?

9-11 was a controlled demolition. It has been proven by multiple groups of construction contractors, physics professors, architects, military profesionals, and many other patriots. It is estimated that over half the country beieves the "official story" is bogus, and demand a new investigation. WTC 7 fell at zero gravity, and Silverstien said they had to "pull" the building. WCT 1 and 2 both fell at zero gravity, and no matter how the goverment tries to spin it, it is obvious. The only thing left of the buildings were microscopic particles of dust, and paper, inches thick on the streets of Manhattan. Concrete does not become dust when introduced to fire, it blackens. Paper burns and does not float away from the fire source. Dr. steven Jones found, and has proven, that Thermite was used in the falling of those buildings. Any small minded person can see the lies here. Also, Cheney was asked several times what we should do about the incomming aircraft headed toward the New York area that morning, and he barked "Stand Down!" to Norman Minetta. This is very obvious, that he is not telling us the whole story or even part of it.

Various powerful national leaders have had secretive, sinister, mysterious, influential, unorthodox advisors, telling the nominal leaders how to run the country.

Look what an effect Ras Putin was able to exert upon Nicholas and Alexandra in Russia. He influenced them into an early retirement.

According to the Constitution, the VP has no role except as president of the Senate and if necessary to assume the role of President.

Diana...you forgot to mention that the people who jumped from the buildings and who died in the planes were mannequins, and the 9/11 widows are political operatives paid by Cheney to spread the lies, Osama bin Laden is computer-generated, and Mohammed Atta is really a Southern Baptist.
