Hurricane Dean is still gathering steam, churning toward a possible category 5 rating as it nears the Yucatan Peninsula... and our Executive Producer, Sue Goodwin. It seems she can't escape the news even on vacation, so if you've been to Playa del Carmen and have questions for her about how the town is preparing for a storm that may match Wilma's ferocity, leave them here.
We are very very lucky here on Grand Cayman. I commend the volunteers, and neighbors who all calmly pulled together to prepare without the frenetics experienced in places where television hypes hysteria. Soon after daybreak the woman next door and I met and hugged over our fence when I assured her via info. from the internet that this, tropical storm winds, was the worst of it. The devastation so many hours of battering from Ivan several years ago is still fresh on our minds. The tropical storm still rages outside and our sea reminds us of the power of that hurricane. Praise Poseidon Almighty we were spared.
