I realize this is a boring title for a blog post, but it is entirely factual. Neil Gaiman is awesome. His book, Stardust, is now a movie of the same title, which I saw last night and is just darling. ("Just darling," is a valid critique if your movie contains witches and ghosts.) Anyway, Gaiman was both a co-writer and a producer on this project, which is somewhat different then the book, but an entirely worthy effort. If you've read Stardust in comic form... I'm wondering, what do you expect from the movie?

Stardust takes "clever" to a new level! It is so playful with all the conventions and cliches of fantasy films. It takes itself lightly at all the right times while still manages to tell a wonderful story.
I was worried at first being a fan of the book to see what they would do with the movie. But since Neil has been involved and completely behind it the whole way I am now just plain excited to see it!
I've read the book at least 7 times, and I am really scared about the DeNiro part, as the pirates were such an insignificant part of the book. But, it is the only movie I'm really looking forward to all year, so of course I'll be there tonight. :)
