There's a weird media love triangle going on this week. We're talking with Chris Matthews today on the show, about his new book, Life's a Campaign. On his show yesterday, Matthews referenced NPR (as in "is Obama too NPR?"). And, earlier this week, Jon Stewart played hardball in an interview with Matthews on The Daily Show, which we'll talk about on our show today (If you haven't seen the video of The Daily Show, here's the link. Let's just say Matthews finishes the segment by saying, "This is the worst interview ever!"). Hopefully, he'll feel better about the interview today. If you're dying to ask the host of Hardball some questions of your own, or want to weigh-in on the book, let us know.
Did Chris actually just say we need "professionals" in government? That sounds like the opposite of "government by the people". I don't think this is a semantic distinction, I suspect Chris Matthews is actually advocating oligarchy!
I used to watch Hardball, Chris' lack of refinement (not of delivery, instead, decrease actual quality in journalism & opinion) had me move on to much better places for political analisys.
Now I belong to the "high minded" NPR, where my level of knowledge, tolerance, and deep understanding have greatly increased.
I would suggest to Mr. Matthews to listen to NPR more often, it will positively increase his professional quality & skill
Keep giving em hell, Chris! These jerks in Washington need to be put in their place every once in a while.
Well, I must admit I usually bypass Hardball because of Chris' agressive style but after listening to him I think I will give it another look----it is hard to ignore the passion he has for politics and his credentials are certainly impressive. I find it energizing.
Chris lost my respect in his analysis of Obama. It's pretty obvious that he hasn't actually listened to any of Obama's speeches if he can just write him off so easily.
Obama above all of the other democratic candidates has the passion and empathy for people referenced by Chris. I would challenge anyone who disagrees to watch a few of his speeches on utube.
Unfortunately, too much of the media has talked about the political process over the quality of the candidate's message. If Obama is too NPR it is because NPR retains journalistic integrity whereas "talk shows" have not.
Chris Matthews is obviously prejudiced against Hillary Clinton. Your fair and balanced should join FOX News.
You beat the drums for war; be careful what you wish for... maybe a completely inexperienced president?
The reason Hillary Clinton is still in the race, is simple. I believe that she is a true narcissist. She should be the poster child for mental health. Hillary will do and say anything to keep the attention focused on her. It doesn't matter if the attention is negative, She just doesn't want to be left out.
I plead with Chris to stop using Pat Buchanan in his panel discussions. The guy is loud, his screeching voice drives me nuts, he doesn't just give his opinion like the others - he has to scold everyone like their school children. When I see him on the show, I switch channels. Retire this old wind bag!
Chris, your question regarding "What Hillary wants?"
There was never a shred of doubt in Bill Clinton's mind that his wife would not be President. In his mind, that was a total impossibility.
That said, in preparation for Hillary's inevitable inauguration, Bill went on a speaking tour. He didn't speak primarily to American audiences; he went to the world market, where the money is. Instead of a measly ten and twenty thousand dollars a speech, he got 250 thousand and close to 500 thousand dollars a speech. The question for each of us to ponder is, who is so stupid as to believe anyone would pay Bill Clinton that kind of money because they liked the sound of his voice. Would you ever admit to being that big a fool?
If you think the tens of millions Bill and Hillary picked up since leaving office is vulgar, then you just wait until she is sworn in. And the reason she refuses to give up the race? The word (spin) put out by the Clintons is, she is sooo passionate about working every single day for the American people. Couldn't be further from the truth. And if you believe that you still have to be just one of the biggest fools of all times. You voted for George Bush didn't you?
Remember when I said Bill had no doubts, so now he is faced with the realization (dilemma) of having to return much of those multi-millions he took from benefactors from all over the world (disguised as speaking fees) and they are in panic mode and desperate now that Obama has apparently has turned their sure thing, upside down. She is so desperate that she is holding out (not in gratitude to her loyal supporters), for the possibility that Obama will be struck by lightning (or something similar). She and Bill understand that if they bowed out of the race, even that faint cruel hope is no longer a possibility. By the way, if you believe that Vince Faster committed suicide you need your head examined. I don't trust the Clintons!
Unfortunately, the majority of Americans are not well or even marginally informed on matters in general, or the Clintons (past) in particular. Hillary right there in the White House while Bill is having sex with 'that woman, Monica L.', Hillary converting 1000 dollars into 100,000 (or some obscene figure) in a year, Bill's life long sex adventures, On and on and on,
The Clintons are now faced with having to forfeit on whatever arrangements made with these high powered special interest they have been conniving with to rip-off the taxpayers.
The bottom line is simply this. We are back to where Al Gore was four years ago. The delegates are not the focal point. THE PEOPLE'S VOTE MUST COUNT OR ELSE WE CAN ALL STAY AT HOME!! So what these delegated/supergates are saying is that a small percentage of people can administer to the will of the COUNTRY!!..That is BS!!!Reduce the votes to a percentage of the PEOPLE'S VOTE and let the chips fall where they may! Any fool knows that the soloution is that simple! We will not stand for and elitist environment in this COUNTRY and as far as McClellan goes..He has given the majority of the people the assurance they were seeking. THERE IS NO WAY A REBUBLICAN IS GETTING BACK IN POWER!!!!!!!!!!!
