Mike "Frontrunner" Huckabee

Rockin' out and rackin' up support.

For the first time in many months, a lot of attention is on Gov. Mike Huckabee, from Arkansas. Early on, he enjoyed little support. Now he's ahead of Sen. John McCain in Iowa polls. Hendrick Hertzberg, of The New Yorker magazine, charted Huckabee's rise in this fine piece. "His manner and appearance are reassuringly ordinary. When he smiles or laughs, which is often, his dimpled face looks interestingly like that of Wallace, of Wallace & Gromit." Ken Rudin, NPR's political editor -- and our "Political Junkie" -- will join us, as he does every Wednesday, to take your campaign questions. He's eager to talk about Huckabee, Republican members of Congress who aren't seeking reelection, and celebrity political endorsements (Oprah Winfrey announced that she will hit the campaign trail for her friend, Sen. Barack Obama, and Barbra Streisand said she's going to support Sen. Hilary Clinton). But he's open to anything, of course! What questions do you have for Ken?

I have been saying for the last 4 months that Mike Huckabee is the man for the Republican party and is a very likable man for President. I am glad that he is getting mainstream attention now. In july he spoke to the NRA and was very geniune that I was actually impressed.

I think Huckabee's going to have a hard time explaining that the gas in our tanks comes dinosaurs that died 6,000 years ago.

Were I a Republican with a passing appreciation of science, I be wringing my hands something fierce over the Huckabee candidacy.

As yet again, your coverage is total garbage. You have not mentioned a single issue. All you do is talk about how endorses or who is leading in the polls. You suck. YOu make our country less democratic. You are hurt the USA. Garbage. YOu are not journalists. Why not debate the policies of Huckabee, rather then whether he is a nice guy? Why not talk about the policy positions of Obama, rather than whether Oprah supports him. Yor coverage of politics is an insult to America!!!!! Yuck. grow up.

As an evangelical myself, I feel that our vote has been taken for granted especially by the GOP. I consider other issues such as poverty, health care, and the environment to be moral issues. As Christians start to lean to the left, Huckabee is a populist candidate who could unite the Christian political movement and the country. His 100 percent genuine grassroots movement is a loud wake up call to the Republicans.

Mike Huckabee as our next President??? It is often said that history repeats itself, but usually not this quickly... I mean president Bush isn't even out of office yet!! If the past eight years have taught us anything, it's that we need to stay far (FAR) away from religious ideologues!!! It's candidates like Mr. Huckabee that have driven me away from the Republican Party. Once the "everything-is-black-and-white", "i'm-right-your-wrong", "my-faith-gives-me-all-of-lifes-correct-answers", (read between the lines - religious fundamentalists) leave the Republican Party... I may come back. But in the mean time America, PLEASE don't make the same mistake twice in a row and elect someone who makes so many decisions in the Oval Office based on a faith that thinks it has all the answers, the rest of us be dammed. Look where it has gotten us.
