Sorry TOTN, but Mike Pasca's approach to journalism doesn't work for this longtime listener: I am disappointed that NPR's decision-makers support a substitute of his ilke because it dumbs down the show, liking it to the sensationalized media stories coming out of the AM radio corporations.

Thanks to TOTN for raising awareness that Al Jazeera is just another news organization like CNN or the BBC. (And, in many respects, superior.) It's a veritable crime that your listeners had to rely on second-hand observations of Al Jazeera-English. When will Comcast stop adding irrelevant channels like "Fox Reality" to my cable packages and give me Al Jazeera-English?

I wish it had been mentioned in the discussion that Al Jazeerah English has 4 bureaus worldwide, one of which is in Jerusalem. This means that Israelis can view the network via their cable TV providers while we in America cannot. Unbelievably, in this time of global unrest, it was decided that Americans must be "protected" from watching news and commentary that reflect the thinking in the Arab world as aired on Al Jazeerah English. Who made this decision for us and why? And by the way, we also lose out on Al Jazeerah's view of events in the 3rd World since reaching the English speaking audience there with relevant local news coverage was one of their original goals, an ambition regularly neglected by the established international news services.
