Tombstones?

For centuries, plenty of people — on pilgrimages and vacations — have traveled to Stonehenge, to marvel at its giant stones, standing tall in concentric circles; to wonder how they got there; and to wonder why they're there.

A team of archaeologists, led by Mike Parker Pearson, may have an answer. They believe that the site was used for human burials. Pearson and his colleagues used new technology to date fragments of burned bone and teeth, found at Stonehenge. Using radiocarbon dating, they determined that those remains are at least 4,500 years old.

Have you been to Stonehenge? What was it like? What did you think it was used for? If you're not convinced by the results of Pearson's study, what do you think it was used for? Did you see the National Geographic special on it last night?
