Britney and Paris. And Obama?

A new ad for Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) analogizes the worldwide celebrity of Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) to the fame enjoyed by Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. And it questions his ability to lead.

Hours later, the Obama campaign answered in kind:

Last night, pundits debated the efficacy of the ad. Has the McCain campaign gone negative?, they asked. Is there no turning back?

We'll talk about the effectiveness of negative political ads. Even if they're dirty, or wrong, do they work? What do you think.

I see that a McCain advisor says that Paris Hilton's billionaire family complained to the campaign when the Obama attack ad came out - I guess they don't like Paris' reputation dragged through the presidential mud (might make her look bad!). Turns out Paris' dad and grandfather are huge McCain backers. (they've given over $25k to the McCain campaign). Here's the advisor's blogpost: http://www.eisenstadtgroup.com/2008/07/31/paris-hiltons-family-fuming-at-mccain-campaign/

Hero or bad pilot, McCain has been using this for years to get ahead. Now in a full diapers he's flinging chunks.

Oil is being manipulated for this election says OPEC thanks to Phil Gramm's Enron loophole. It's funny that oil prices only went up as McCain started loosing in the poles and in the primaries.

As McCain said, he plans to stay in Iraq for the next hundred years until the last drop of oil is gone. Iran is the next step in the oil.

I'd like to see McCain's gas pump ad followed by T Boone Picken's "This is one crisis we can't drill our way out of" ad.

Also, the Republicans are focusing so much on drilling, once it is passed, why else should we vote for them?

I would rather hear a candidate tell me what he wants to do and why he thinks it would help. Honestly - not these mind game claims like the gas tax holidays or drilling off the coast which will not lower the price of gas. When I see McCain's negative ads - all I can think of is that he's spending all his money letting us know he spends too much time watching Obama and none of the money is going towards discussing his real ideas for what will make this country a better place for all of it's citizens.
