Fort Hood Memorial
Last week, a gunman killed 13 people and wounded dozens in a shooting rampage at Fort Hood. This afternoon, President Obama is scheduled to speak at the memorial service there, to address the expected 3,000 people in attendance — including the families of the dead and wounded, and members of the general public.
During the service, Army Chief of Staff Gen. George Casey, and Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, commanding general of Fort Hood, will address the gathering. Following the ceremony, Maj. Gen. Mike Davidson (Ret.), former Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for National Guard Matters, will talk about the service and President Obama's remarks. And NPR correspondents and Amy Goldstein, a staff writer for The Washington Post, will tell us about the victims of the shooting attack.
Neal Conan hosts special coverage of the Fort Hood memorial service and the president's remarks.
