In an op-ed entitled "They Chose Celebrity" for Sunday's New York Times, columnist Ross Douthat says that after the 2008 election, Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin embraced celebrity when they should've taken "their newfound eminence seriously." By doing that, he says, they may have precluded themselves from ever being elected president someday.
