Carol Guzy, watching the Wall fall. (Rich Lipski)

By Sarah Handel

While David was involved in booking our back-to-back hours on the fall of the Berlin Wall, he received an interesting email from one of our guests, Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Carol Guzy. In the late 1980s, she was sent to Europe to cover the so-called Velvet Revolutions. She was in Berlin on Nov. 9, 1989, when travel restrictions between East and West Germany were loosened, and she photographed the celebrations that followed.

Guzy sent David this photograph of her, shot by her friend and colleague Rich Lipski, just after the Berlin Wall fell. You can hear her recollections of that moment on today's show.
