For as long as I can remember, my teddy bear has stuck by my side, my faithful companion — sort of like a dog. Frisky (pictured above) was given to me roughly 19 years ago as a Christmas present. Although I haven't toted him around in what seems like years, something told me that Frisky needed a change of scenery after my last trip home to see my family. And for some reason, in my adult years, I have the urge to bring him along for short and long trips.

Turns out that I'm not alone, according to an ABC News report. The British hotel chain Travelodge said that one in 4 grown men reportedly take their teddy bear with them when going on a business trip:

Well, in the last 12 months ... Travelodge has reunited more than 75,000 bears with the owners. That's a lot of stuffed animals left at its 452 hotels in the United Kingdom and Spain. So the company decided to investigate a bit further.

Travelodge surveyed 6,000 Britons and discovered that 35 percent of adults admitted they sleep with their teddy because they found cuddling their bear comforting. Additionally, many said the calming feeling of a bear hug helped them lower their stress level after a hard day.

So far, the reaction from others has been favorable. At this point, I don't even think twice when I take Frisky with me to my girlfriend's apartment. He's just along for the ride, like an old buddy.
