Politico's Mike Allen reports that he's been told by "an administration official" that President Barack Obama:
Plans to say in his speech Thursday that the U.S. lost its way in fighting terrorism over the last eight years by failing to trust its institutions and values, according to an administration official.
Allen, among Washington's most-plugged-in journos, also has some early word on what former vice president Dick Cheney plans to say this morning. According to Mike, Cheney's prepared text has him saying that:
"When President Obama makes wise decisions, he deserves our support. And when he mischaracterizes the national security decisions we made in the Bush years, he deserves an answer."
As we noted earlier, Obama's scheduled to start speaking at 10:10 a.m. ET and Cheney is due at 10:30 a.m. ET. We'll try to follow both as they happen, so check back as the time draws near.
