Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told supporters today that "with the grace of God," on Friday voters will end his rivals "to the bottom of history," the Associated Press reports.

Ahmadinejad is locked in what seems to be a tough re-election battle. His primary challenger is Mir Hossein Mousavi, a former prime minister who is seen by many as a reformer.

On Morning Edition today, co-host Steve Inskeep spoke with Mohammad Hassan Khani, a professor of Political Science at the Imam Sadiq University in Tehran. According to Khani, "the legacy that Mousavi left behind" after being prime minister, was "a very good one ... in terms of his capability to manager a country under war."
