As she wrapped up the news from the Supreme Court's last decisions of this term, NPR's Nina Totenberg also said on Morning Edition today that the current justices indirectly gave a boost to the effort by Democrats to push for a confirmation vote this summer on the nomination of federal appeals court Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the high court.

According to Nina, by saying they want to rehear arguments in September about whether a 2008 film about Hillary Rodham Clinton was a documentary or a political ad, the justices have given Democrats something to point to as a deadline for acting to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Justice David Souter.
