As Iran heads for national elections Friday, NPR's Mike Shuster reported for Morning Edition today on demonstrations held in Tehran yesterday by supporters of incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and reformist candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi.
And Morning Edition co-host Steve Inskeep spoke with Hooman Majd, a writer who travels often to Iran and has been an adviser to two Iranian presidents. Majd said the elections mark a time when Iranians are allowed to express their opinions in ways that aren't normally allowed:
