Consumer spending ticked up again in June, the Commerce Department just reported.
The 0.4% increase from May was the second straight modest increase — spending edged up 0.1% in May from April.
The gain in June came despite a 1.3% decline in personal income.
Consumer spending is a key indicator of how the economy is doing because it accounts for about two-thirds of all economic activity.
