The University of Washington has issued an e-mail and text message alert to students and staff, warning them that the suspect in yesterday's killing of four police officers in nearby Lakewood, Wash., may be in the area or on the campus.

Here's how the Seattle school's warning reads:

UW Police say the Lakewood shooting suspect might be in the university area. Expect more police presence in the district this morning. Police searched a Seattle neighborhood overnight but did not find the suspect, Maurice Clemmons. Prosecutors have charged him with four counts of aggravated first-degree murder in the death of four Lakewood police officers on Sunday, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Be alert and call 911 if you see the suspect.

The Seattle Times says there's been a report that Clemmons was seen getting off a city bus at the campus.

As was reported earlier, authorities thought they had Clemmons surrounded in a Seattle home — only to find he wasn't there.
