The State of Ohio executed Kenneth Biros, a murderer who killed and dismembered 22-year-old Tami Engstrom in 1991. Prison authorities are using a new method of lethal injection - instead of injecting three chemicals into the condemned prisoner, officials will use a single one. Last month, Ohio executioners tried to put murderer Romell Broom to death with lethal injection and could not find a suitable vein to give him the injection. Ohio Governor Ted Strickland stopped the execution and Broom is appealing a second effort to put him to death.

If the new method doesn't work, Ohio prison authorities will try a third way: they will inject the chemical directly into Biros' muscles.

Update: Reporter Jo Ingles of Ohio Public Radio confirms Biros has been executed.
