The International Olympic Committee has re-awarded a gold and a bronze medal won by track and field competitor Marion Jones at the 2000 Summer Game in Sydney. Jones, who won a total of 5 medals during the Games, admitted in 2007 that she lied about taking banned substances and served 6 months in jail for misleading federal investigators. The IOC stripped her of all 5 awards. The gold medal in the 200 meter individual distance has been re-awarded to Pauline Davis-Thompson of the Bahamas, and the bronze medal for the long jump now goes to Tatyana Kotova of Russia.

What's more thorny is the fate of Jones' medals from the 1600-meter relay and 400-meter relay. The IOC yanked those, too, but the decision meant that Jones' teammates lost their medals as well. A final decision about these awards is still pending at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
