Most people died of smoke inhalation while they were trying to flee from the cafe, the source in emergency ministry was quoted by RIA Novosti news agency as saying.

"According to preliminary reports, panic, which happened due to fire in the building, lead to a crush at the entrance and those who remained inside died from the smoke," the source told RIA Novosti.

The tragedy occurred while the caf??, named "Lamed Horse", was celebrating its jubilee and most victims are reportedly people who worked at the caf?? and their relatives. According to preliminary reports, the massive explosion may have been caused by a malfunctioning fireworks display.

Wire services are reporting more than 100 people have died as the result of an explosion at a nightclub in Perm, Russia, a city 700 miles east of Moscow near the Ural Mountains.




Reports indicate that 200 people were in the club at the time of the explosion in the central Russian city, according to Russian news services which are apparently receiving reports from police.

CNN is reporting that there may have been a fireworks display at the club that caused the tragedy. The wire services are also reporting that firecrackers may have triggered the blast.
