A perfect story for the holidays:
From Memphis, The Commercial Appeal writes that a kind-hearted, anonymous stranger paid $190 Tuesday to mail a young woman's Christmas package to Australia — and that he disappeared without waiting around to be thanked.
It seems that when the package was weighed, it came in at 32 pounds. That was more than the sender had to spend. While she went outside and "started making frantic calls," the secret Santa sprang into action.
According to clerk Vennessa Bethes, he paid the postage and left. When the young woman returned and was told what he'd done:
Bethes teared up. The young woman teared up. Many of those standing in line did, too.
If you can top that story, or perhaps think you know who this kind-hearted stranger is, by all means tell us in the comments thread.
