It's the week for Time's annual "Person of the Year," and this morning the magazine's managing editor gave NBC-TV's Today Show a preview of the so-called short list:
— Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
— Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.
— "The Chinese worker."
— House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
— Gen. Stanley McChrystal, commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan.
— Sprinter and Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt.
— President Barack Obama.
Here's the conversation Time's Richard Stengel had with the gang on Today. On Wednesday, Today is set to reveal the "winner":

MSNBC has an online survey going about which of the seven on the short-list you prefer.
Time also has an online, non-scientific survey going — and that version has 10 chioices. "The Chinese worker" isn't among them. The four names that are on Time's list that aren't on MSNBC's:
— German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
— Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine.
— "Iran protesters."
— "Somali pirates."
Right now, "Iran protesters" is far ahead in Time's survey.
