Evangelist Ted Haggard fell from national prominence quickly in late 2006 after admitting to illegal drug use and having had sexual relations with other men.
Now, the Denver Post reports, Gayle Haggard has written a book in which she says she chose to forgive her husband because that's what Christians do. The Post writes that:
Gayle Haggard says she searched her memory, journal and records to answer this question: "Will I be the woman who washes her hands of the situation and walks away from Ted, or will I be the woman who loves him and shows forgiveness? The choice was mine."
Why I Stayed: The Choices I Made in My Darkest Hour is officially due in stores next Tuesday. The Post says it purchased a copy at a Denver-area store yesterday.
