There's more than enough tawdry news about John Edwards, his mistress, their child and the attempts to cover up the story in a new tell-all book by a former aide to the one-time Democratic presidential candidate.
But according to The Wall Street Journal's Washington Wire blog, one-time Edwards right-hand man Andrew Young also writes in The Politician of the candidate's real opinion of "real people". Edwards reportedly didn't like going to state fairs where "fat rednecks try to shove food down my face. I know I'm the people's senator, but do I have to hang out with them?"
Also, according to Washington Wire:
Young describes his alleged discovery of a compromising videotape of Edwards and a naked, pregnant lover, identified by Young as (Rielle) Hunter. "It was like watching a traffic pileup occur in slow motion — it was repelling but also transfixing," he writes.
Young initially agreed to say he was the father of the Edwards-Hunter baby. Last week, Edwards acknowledged that the now nearly 2-year-old girl is his.
The Journal reports that a spokesman for Edwards had no comment about the book's allegations.
