Consumers — the driving force in the U.S. economy — weren't as confident about how things are going this month as they were in January. That's not a good sign.
According to the private Conference Board, its consumer confidence index "declined sharply in February" and now stands at 46, vs. 56.5 in January.
It good times, that index often runs above 100.
