"A judge has found former John Edwards aide Andrew Young and his wife, Cheri, in contempt of court for not turning over a sex tape featuring the former senator and his mistress, Rielle Hunter," the Raleigh, N.C., News & Observer writes.
According to the newspaper:
The Youngs said after the hearing that they never had any intent of distributing the tape or showing it publicly. They said they have no problem with turning the materials over to the court to be sealed until the civil case over possession is resolved.
The Associated Press adds that:
Hunter had won a temporary restraining order against Young that sought the return of what she called a private video she made in 2006, but when deputies went to retrieve the item, Young's attorney declined to release it. Young has said he has a copy of a video showing Edwards in a sexual encounter with a woman he believed to be Hunter.
Last month, Edwards admitted that he is the father of Hunter's nearly three-year-old daughter. The 2004 Democratic vice presidential nominee recently separated from his wife, Elizabeth. Young just published a tell-all book.
