Give her an SNL shot, fans say.

It looks like her appearance in the Snickers commercial that won USA TODAY's Super Bowl "Ad Meter" has given a big boost to a push by some of actress Betty White's biggest fans to land her spot as host of NBC-TV's Saturday Night Live.

From about 10,000 last week, the number of fans of the Facebook page Betty White to Host SNL (please?) has expanded to nearly 136,000 now.

The organizers think it's a crime that the 88-year-old comic actress — a TV legend from her days on Mary Tyler Moore, Golden Girls and other shows — has never hosted SNL.

So if you agree — and if, like us, you're getting a little stir crazy from being inside for so many days due to the weather — surf over and sign on.

One big fan of the idea, Tanner Stransky at Entertainment Weekly's Pop Watch blog, thinks we may be "one step away from this: 'Betty White for President!' Which, truly, isn't the craziest of ideas."

Update at 7:25 a.m. ET, Feb. 12: Monkee See's Linda Holmes is a fan of the idea too.
