Who Dat Gonna Beat Dem Saints? Not the Colts.

Congratulations are in order this morning for the NFL's New Orleans Saints and the team's fans.

"Who Dat Nation" is celebrating because the Saints beat the favored Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl last evening, by a convincing score of 31-17.

Here's how NPR's Mike Pesca sums up the game:

The Saints rode the accurate arm of quarterback Drew Brees and the resilience of their defense to their first ever Super Bowl win in their first ever Super Bowl appearance. Brees was named the games MVP, but the defense collectively did not wilt in the face of the game's most intimidating quarterback — the Colts Peyton Manning

.

A fourth-quarter interception returned for a touchdown by Saints defensive back Tracy Porter put the game away for the team from New Orleans.

From New Orleans, the Times-Picayune reports that:

Saints receiver Marques Colston was philosophical.

"We did this for the city of New Orleans," Colston said.

Owner Tom Benson said when given the trophy that "New Orleans is back." When asked about his coach Sean Payton, Benson said, "I might kiss him."

The Big Easy, which of course has never fully recovered from 2005's Hurricane Katrina, plans a victory parade on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the main headline on the website of the Indianapolis Star this morning is "Stopped Short Of Greatness."
