Hundreds of photographs taken by California serial killer Rodney Alcala have police and prosecutors in Orange County, California, asking the public for help in figuring out whether any of the women, girls and young children in the images might also have been victims of the so-called Dating Game killer.
The Orange County Register has a gallery of the photos posted here. It writes that:
"Detectives recovered hundreds of photos of young women -- apparently taken by Alcala before his 1979 arrest -- during court-authorized searches of Alcala's Monterey Park home and a rented storage locker. ... And most of the subjects in the photos have never been identified. ...
"If you know who these women are, contact Huntington Beach Police Detective Patrick Ellis, at 714-375-5066, or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org."
Alcala, now 66, made a 1978 appearance on The Dating Game. He's been in jail, and has been appealing two previous death sentences, since 1979. It's thought his murder spree stretched at least from 1977 to 1979. He's now been convicted of five murders.
