Jobless Claims Dip; Third Drop In Four Weeks

There was a 14,000-decline in the number of people filing first-time claims for jobless benefits last week, the Employment and Training Administration just reported.

The drop, to 442,000, was the third decline in four weeks, which could be a welcome sign of life in the labor market. In addition, Reuters says, "the number of people still receiving benefits after an initial week of aid fell by 54,000, to 4.65 million in the week ended March 13 , the lowest since December 2008."
