Lost All Your Twitter 'Followers'? Update: Problem solved?

Suddenly, I (and maybe you too) have no followers.

"Twitter has been hit by a major bug that has seen many users of the service lose all of their followers and friends." (BBC News)

Twitter, meanwhile, has this to say:

"We identified and resolved a bug that permitted a user to 'force' other users to follow them. We're now working to rollback all abuse of the bug that took place. Follower/following numbers are currently at 0; we're aware and this too should shortly be resolved."

Of course, when it comes to Twitter followers, there's new evidence that just because you have a lot of them may not mean you're that influential. So maybe a little bug isn't something to get too excited about.

Update at 3:45 p.m. ET: I seem to have my followers back. Whew!
