This "urgent" just crossed the AP wire:
"British police say a mail bomb intercepted last month at an English airport could have exploded over the East Coast of the United States."
NPR's Philip Reeves sends us this statement from London police:
"Forensic examination has indicated that if the device had activated it would have been at 10:30 hrs BST (0930 GMT) on Friday, 29 October 2010. If the device had not been removed from the aircraft the activation could have occurred over the eastern seaboard of the U.S."
NPR's Dina Temple-Raston previously reported about the "dry run" that terrorists might have made before the attempt to fly bombs to the U.S.
