He took the team to the NFC title game last year, but a 3-7 record so far this season has cost Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress his job.

The Star Tribune says the NFL team will formally announce the move at 4 p.m. ET. Defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier is expected to be made the interim coach.

Along with the team's poor record, highly publicized run-ins with quarterback Brett Favre and other players didn't help Childress.

According to ESPN.com, "the last straw was apparently the team's humbling 31-3 loss to the archrival Green Bay Packers on Sunday."
