The gospel crooner is lending his image to a line of steaks: Pat Boone All-American Meats. NPR's Robert Smith tells Morning Edition Boone's intent is to give away five percent of the proceeds.

Boone: These friends of mine in Colorado were looking for an iconic image for it. Somebody that people will trust if he says they're the best meats in the world with a strong charitable component. Good conservative, traditional causes, mainly feeding the hungry.
The charities he's thinking of include Focus on the Family and Mercy Corps. Boone discussed this with late actor Paul Newman, who donated all proceeds from his Newman's Own line to charity. Boone is a conservative activist, who most recently helped found the Beverly Hills Tea Party group. It's not quite the same as "see the USA in your Chevrolet" but the idea may well hold up.
