Rumors spread wildly over the weekend that the creator of the smash worldwide anime/video game sensation, Pokemon, had perished in the Japanese earthquake and tsunami. News of Satoshi Tajiri's death is just a rumor, according to Nintendo of America Inc., the gaming company that distributes his popular work. Nintendo pointed to a story on Kotaku.com that says the rumor began on Twitter in the U.S.

The Pokemon Company says all its employees in Tokyo, including Tajiri-san, are fine, although they're having electricity problems. GamingUnion.com says Tajiri-san spoke on his FB page, reassuring everyone he was well and urged "More importantly, if you can, help Japan." (HT: OM High School).
