NPR In The News: The Investigations Edition

Coughing, congestion and difficulty breathing. These are the debilitating and irreversible symptoms of black lung disease. As part of a joint investigation announced yesterday, NPR and the Center for Public Integrity are reporting that despite legislation passed 40 years ago aimed at eradicating this disease, cases of black lung are on the rise with diagnosis doubling in just the last decade.

NPR Rural Affairs Correspondent Howard Berkes reported the investigation for NPR and joined PBS NewsHour last night to discuss the findings:
