For the last several months NPR White House Correspondent Ari Shapiro has been traveling with the Romney Campaign and reporting on the candidate's every move in his quest for the White House. But we were still a little surprised (and proud) when Ari played a reoccurring role in GQ magazine's profile of the presidential hopeful.
In the article, writer Wells Tower introduces Ari to readers as "one of the undisputed cool kids of the bus," and goes on to say (among other things):
Shapiro is rather annoyingly accomplished and perfect. He defies all we hear about the ugliness of radio people. Olive-skinned with eight-inch eyelashes. He does parkour, the European sport of jumping off buildings. He also performs with the band Pink Martini and will be playing Carnegie Hall this year.
We decided to have some fun with Ari's role in the story and asked Science Desk Reporter (and talented artist) Adam Cole to draw a caricature of Ari inspired by the descriptions of him in GQ. Take a look at the full piece from the August issue of GQ online and let us know what you think. Did he do a good job capturing Ari?
