THE GAME: George Plimpton's Video Falconry

A DESCRIPTION THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE ACCURATE: This is either a ColecoVision video game from the early 1980s, or something invented by John Hodgman on his Judge John Hodgman podcast, and made real by some clever programmers. We're not sure. At any rate, you control a falcon as it hunts various creatures on the screen, with Mr. Plimpton — who, according to Wikipedia, did not actually engage in falconry — offering encouragement, advice, and sympathy when needed.

GAMEPLAY: Use the number keys to control your falcon as it hunts. Higher levels require more commands, which becomes confusing, so you may find yourself flapping when you want to be striking, or turning when you want to be slowing down, and cursing your low-res pixelated falcon when you never imagined yourself doing any such thing.

RECOMMENDED FOR: People who enjoy clever pastiches of literary figures of the late 20th century, people who think they might enjoy falconry but do not have a falcon, or people who want to live for a moment inside the mind of John Hodgman.

INTERESTING SIDENOTE: It's actually a challenging game. Also, all of the animals are fake, so it's guilt-free.
