September 25, 2009 As millions of Jews across the world prepare for the holy day of Yom Kippur, host Michel Martin speaks with the authors of Bending Toward the Sun. The book is a family memoir, co-written by mother and daughter Rita Lurie and Leslie Gilbert-Lurie, about Rita's harrowing story of survival during the Holocaust, and how that experience reverberates across generations of the family. Lurie's 14-year-old daughter Mikaela also joins the conversation.
