Day to Day, October 30, 2003 · Books and school work remain the favored way of teaching, whether the subject is physics, algebra or French political history. But some subjects -- like kissing, for example -- would seem to fall outside the scope of book learning.

But Michael Christian, a former professor at Boston College, is an ardent book man. Using the nom de plume William Cane, he is the author of The Art of Kissing, and is currently touring college campuses giving tutorials on this ancient craft. He recently gave NPR's Alex Chadwick a few pointers on how to kiss better.
