Jim DeMint

Why we're tracking this person: South Carolina's very conservative senator isn't expected to have any problem getting re-elected in November. He's up against a little-known Democrat, Alvin Greene, who has barely campaigned. So DeMint has been lending his support, sometimes to the chagrin of other Republican leaders, to Tea Party-types running for office in other states.
